Thoughts Made Flesh
Thoughts Made Flesh is a series of large scale drawings each depicting the human form ‘embodying’ a thought or state of mind.Painstakingly crafted, each drawing stands at a staggering 2.5 meters high. The drawings feature me, the artist, and are made using a combination of photography and real life study. Whether cowering in the shadows or staring directly out at the viewer each form is coaxed from the darkness using a traditional combination of pencil and rubber. Standing tall like institutional pillars they collectively represent the captivity we suffer through thinking.

The piece at the end imposes itself with permanence but embodies something so fleeting. It is in this dichotomy that the tension and intrigue lies. The same can be said for the relationship between scale, between micro and macro. One is used to create the other. A pencil being used to cover such surface area seems ludicrous, but as it achieves its goal and the giant is revealed the viewer is reminded of the title, Thoughts Made Flesh, and this giant is reduced, once again, to the infinitesimal world of a single thought, a single moment.
